Overview

Ingham County vehicle pass is required, daily and annual are available. Park opens at 8a closes 1/2 hour after sunset. Gates are locked. Follow the orange flex posts to make a full loop of the mtb trails. Trail is a mix of single track and two track (shared with all users), wooded and open meadows in the mix. Dirt School Bicycle Playground and Skills Park is at the main entrance off Grovenburg Road. From this entrance park in the lower lot, far end and spot the kiosk. Follow the trail markers to get the woods. There is a bike repair station at Dirt School. Restrooms are located in the winter sports building at end of the upper lot. Riverbend entrance off Nichols Road has a bike repair station, kiosk with maps and trail is nearby. Portajohn at this lot McNamara entrance off Columbia Road has a kiosk with maps and vault toilet. You can access the mtb loop past the visible hiking trail, follow the large brown bike trail sign and then pick up the orange sign posts. Note: closed to all bikes during "winter". Once conditions are consistently heading toward chronic trail damage from rains or snow the park will close it for all bike use until conditions are consistently good again in the spring. When there is sufficient snow, the trails are groomed for XC skiing.

Weather Policy

In early and late season impact of rain can vary. In spring it will take very little rain for trail to move to mid-fat or plus tires only or close to riding. Some segments will be dry while many others have standing water. High river levels will delay the draining and drying out of the trail. Monitor reports for when conditions are good to go. In a normal summer things dry out pretty fast. If there's been an inch of rain day before probably best to wait until late afternoon or evening of the next day. Trail conditions are updated frequently for this trail.
